Making the Most of Your Mindfulness Meditation with Brain Shift Radio

Mindfulness meditation is a great way to reduce your stress and help you manage day-to-day challenges. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and let your mind clear. Just let your thoughts drift. See them floating away without attachment. In no time, you’re calm and present. Sounds easy doesn’t it?

Well, it can be for some people. It wasn’t for me. Not for a long time.

You see, I have ADHD. A calm mind wasn’t part of my make-up. And forget trying to sit still for any length of time.

My first attempts at meditation were a miserable failure. I squirmed in my seat. I grabbed each thought and wrestled it to the ground, often getting more anxious as time went on.

It wasn’t until I discovered an ancient drumming technique that I was able to clear my mind and enter a deep meditative state. Okay, it took more than just discovering the technique for me to get the hang of it. You can read an excerpt from my book, Different Drummer, for more of the story.

Long story short: A drumming beat played at the lower end of the theta range of consciousness will drive the brain into a deep meditative state through a process called auditory driving. Theta is the same state of consciousness that neuroscientists have discovered buddhist monks enter when they meditate. You don’t need to become a monk, though. All you need to do is have the beats playing in the background.

Brain Shift Radio has hundreds of tracks to accomplish this goal. And it’s easy. From the main menu simply choose:

1. Auto Select

2. Meditate

3. I’m looking for a deep meditation

Then  just sit back, close your eyes, and breathe. You’ll be in the zone in no time.

If you’re new to meditation, your mind will initially jump from one thought to another. Put your attention on the music and breathe. Keep re-directing your mind to the music. Before long you’ll settle in and your mind will clear.

One of the cool things about using Brain Shift Radio to aid your meditations is that your brain will get better at shifting to a deep theta state the more you use it. And with the variety of music available you’ll never tire of the stimulus.
